I have been with HFZ since 2018. I assist patent engineers and attorneys in all aspects of the patent prosecution process as well as administrative tasks. Prior to joining HFZ I was a legal assistant at a medical malpractice firm in downtown Chicago. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Political science, with a minor in Sociology, from DePaul University and my Paralegal Certification from Loyola University Chicago.

Since joining HFZ, first as a part-time receptionist, currently as the IP Docketing Manager, I bring my attention-to-detail and organizational skills to help our attorneys and patent engineers achieve success for our clients in their IP endeavors.
At HFZ, I am fortunate enough to support knowledgeable and courteous attorneys, who are some of the top in their field, while helping to protect the inventive concepts of our clients. Before coming to HFZ, I attended Arizona State University, where I majored in Business and minored in Justice Studies. I then earned my paralegal certificate at Elgin Community College while working as a senior litigation paralegal at a law firm in Chicago.
Being a part of the HFZ team grants me the unique opportunity to assist in the patent prosecution process from start to finish, not only in the U.S., but also internationally as the firm’s foreign filing paralegal.
In my time at HFZ, I have enjoyed helping clients meet their patent prosecution needs and have been able to apply my creativity and problem-solving skills throughout the prosecution process. I work closely with engineers and attorneys, I provide back-up to foreign-filing, and also assist with the training of new assistants. My previous experience includes working in Estates and Trusts, and I appreciate being able to apply the broad set of legal skills from that experience to my work here.
I have been with HFZ since 2015. Along with my regular patent prosecution and trademark duties, I act as a trainer and as back-up for annuities and foreign filing. I am also actively involved in the development of training procedures for Legal Assistants. Prior to working for HFZ, I began my legal career at a Creditor’s Right’s law firm where I eventually acted as team lead of bankruptcy openings and created an internal procedural manual and client specification guide. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Xavier University and my Paralegal Certificate from Roosevelt University.
