Before joining the HFZ team, I studied Accounting and Finance at the University of Kentucky. As the Accounting Assistant, I work with our Accounting Director and our firm stakeholders to streamline billing processes. I also prepare budgets, accruals, and reconciliations for our clients. My education in accounting continues as I am working on a master’s degree through the University of Illinois and am studying to become a CPA.
Prior to joining HFZ, I studied Political Science at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities, with an interest in law. I enjoyed my time researching political identities and voting behavior. I managed my academic studies while working full time and learned to prioritize, organize, and schedule my time efficiently. These skills have transferred well into my work as a legal assistant for HFZ, as I collaborate with my attorney team in successfully preparing and filing patent applications and prosecution with the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Additionally, I help handle the firm’s patent annuities, and in training future legal assistants.
At HFZ, I leverage my background in research and analysis, my ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of attention to detail, when working with Fortune 500 and 100 companies.
I joined Hanley, Flight & Zimmerman in 2021 and work with HFZ’s wonderful team of attorneys and engineers to ensure the filing and maintenance of patent applications and trademarks. I also assist in training new assistants and coordinate with our team members overseas. Prior to HFZ, I worked with an independent company on trademark applications and started my legal work in family law.
