Zachary R. Herbert, BS Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering

Before joining Hanley, Flight, and Zimmerman, I studied Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering with a minor in Global Engineering Studies at Purdue University. Purdue provided the opportunity for me to design and manufacture a seven-foot remote-controlled aircraft to fit a specific set of mission requirements.  I also had the experience of reverse-engineering various design projects using CAD and laser cutters to test the viability of new materials. Additionally, as an Aerospace enthusiast, I trained for and acquired a private pilot license.

I interned with HFZ twice during my college career. As a result, I had the opportunity to experience patent prosecution in action and find a role that matches my interests and goals.

Being a patent engineer at HFZ allows me to utilize my technical background to support clients and their innovation in diverse fields through preparing and prosecuting patent applications. I look forward to working with inventors and companies to protect their valuable inventions and products.
