Prior to joining HFZ I was in-house counsel for Hewlett-Packard where I managed a number of different intellectual property portfolios including LaserJet and Inkjet printers, desktop scanners, cameras, storage devices and industry standard servers. I handled both the software and hardware assets for these portfolios. This has given me broad experience in prosecuting patents, as well as, counseling clients in managing their intellectual property assets.
Before I began my legal career I was an engineer for Hewlett-Packard for over 15 years where I developed products for desktop scanners, disk drives and surveying equipment. I designed the opto-mechanical elements as well as the firmware and software components for these products. I am an inventor on over 20 granted US patents covering these type of products.
My current practice involves preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent applications. I also counsel clients on non-infringement and invalidity positions as well as other patent related matters. With my experience as both an inventor and an attorney working on patents I can relate to inventors in a broad range of technologies to develop the broadest coverage for their inventions.
