Before working at HFZ, I studied computer engineering at Iowa State University. At Iowa State, I worked on Android-based applications to determine road roughness utilizing phone accelerometer data and International Roughness Index calculations. The project focused on allowing the Iowa Department of Transportation to identify roads that required repair without having to purchase bulky and expensive machinery. I also researched runtime analysis of computer programs to determine an optimal algorithm to use for a prior specified goal.
I chose to join HFZ full-time because of a prior internship program with the company. The work provides me with an opportunity to discover new ideas and inventions and allows me to work with the inventors to help protect them and their IP.
